To me, the original Star Trek is still the best. The feel of being in space and on a space ship was so much more real to me… but then again, I was kid when it was still running original episodes.

Star Trek the Next Generation is my second favorite. It still had some of the space and exploration feel to it that I love and had many excellent episodes (and a lot of duds too but oh well).

Deep Space Nine was interesting but it took me a while to appreciate it. I was not a consistent watcher after the first season but I did come back towards the end. I plan to eventually watch the series from front to back to fill in the gaps and refresh my memory of the show. I tend to avoid re-runs until a series has been off the air for a long while; I guess it is getting about time to watch it again.

Voyager, well, I did not hate Voyager, I just did not love it either. I liked the cast and characters, the ship was okay, but GOOD original stories were very rare, especially after about season one. I am not sure if I missed more episodes of DS9 or Voyager but I did like DS9 better.

Enterprise

Enough said.

Well, actually, I did like the cast and characters and the first two seasons of Enterprise… but the last two seasons really aggravated me. I did watch them but it was with growing anger and disgust. And the ending, what a lame way to go out, I feel bad for the cast.

Yes I agree Classic Star Trek will always be my favorite. Mainly because it was the first and yes because I was a kid it seemed so real to me too. The hope and way the people interacted on the ship and the way they worked together inspired me.

I understand the fear of technology however and the various risks we take with each step. But there is risk in standing still and doing nothing also. Risk in not finding ways to better our lives. So while I enjoyed the niceness of the first esp the joking of the crew, the second Next Generation was interesting but a bit too 'nice' to feel right to me. 3rd, Deep Space Nine was a welcome change but took a bit for me to get into being so different. The older we get the less we welcome changes I guess?

Voyager as well different again, nice, but hey can't argue with them finally getting evolved with their way of thinking and putting a women in command.

She was the best captain too, but I don't often say that cause well Kirk is still my favorite, lol.

I think, in all honesty, if I had to chose one of the Star Treks as my top it would have to be Kirk and the crew.  They certainly kept this girl company during those hours after school when the house was empty and there was no dinner on the horizon.

As for the other "Treks" I have a hard time choosing between The Next Generation and Voyager.  There were many episodes in both series that I love profoundly and a few I can't stand to ever watch again.  I tried very hard to watch DS9 and there are a few characters I really like, but for the most part I lost interest.

I think what I like most about TOS is that it did not take itself too seriously.  The science tried, the action was right, the love scenes were racey enough and the humor was consistent.  It carried through the films and now into commercials on TV. Kirk and the crew, espeically Spock and McCoy, had a special chemistry that just can't be duplicated.  All I can say is....

Live Long and Prosper...in reruns (& DVD), TOS.

I like all the shows.  I don't think I have a favorite favorite.  They each had something I liked.  I think they all had good stories.

My husband on the other hand will say the only Star Trek is the original seriers.  All the others were just cheap imatations.  Matter of fact the only checks I am allowed to get are the original series.  Yes we have Star Trek checks, they are pretty cool too.

Kerra were you an only child? Did both your parents work late?

Did you have to fend for yourself a Lot as a child?  You did get dinner late though right? That makes me sad to hear that any one is alone or had to go thru stuff alone. I guess there is always 'that time' though when we all have to be alone.  Seems that everyone has that sort of walk thru fire time but that it varies as to when. Some end up old and alone, or go thru times as teens or young adults, or after divorce and kids are raised, or sadly some go thru it as a child.

I didn't know my Dad till I was eleven though I do have one memory of him from around 4. We were lucky that he was not around those early years often. And though my Mom slept more of a day schedule and breakfast might of been a fend for yourself, dinner was always done.

What do you mean by check? Is that a pay stub that the show payed out to someone working there way back?

Check as in checks you write for paying for something.  You can get them from the Anthony Grandio company.  They have all the series, but hubby will only let me get the original.  I will get rid of them if they ever come out with MacGyver or Stargate checks:>)
