Did anyone get to see the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie?  I saw it today and LOVED it.... most of it. and I can't wait until the next one comes out.

It had some really great lines... and wonderful acting and ACTION.

I LOVE Johnny Depp.  I think the man is just incredible... his characters are ALL so different.. and he pulls them ALL off wonderfully.  (and he is REALLY cute to boot)  Add Orlando Bloom and I am in heaven.... so, yeah, it worked for me.

I just wondered what you thought.

Haven't seen it yet but I'm looking forward to seeing Depp recreate his roll of Jack. Never has a man looked so good in makeup.

Well, I thought the first one was interesting but I was not overly fond of it. I am interested enough to see the sequel when it comes out on one of the premium channels I have... but I would not pay to see it at the theater unless someone who does want to see it comes by for a visit.

I still have not seen Pirates of the Caribbean but probably will sooner or later.

Right now would be a good time to stock up on movies… I am reaching burnout. All work and no play catches up with me after a while.

I saw the first one on TV again. Still loved it.

If you are looking for movies Mac, check out Walmart's bargain bin. Most of it is trash but there are a few gems in the mix. Kind of like a treasure hunt.

Thanks Quest, I've never been to a Wal-Mart... but I will keep that in mind.

As for finding treasure in heaps of trash, I know how it is. Looking through the movie selection at about any store seems like an exercise in futility to me. It is all too much like a treasure hunt.

Cable isn’t any better. Lately, about the only thing I find on cable worth watching are old westerns. Some of those are pretty good though.

As for finding good sci-fi on cable, this is rare because the programmers confuse horror for sci-fi... and horror is not sci-fi to me. Sadly, it seems the cable programmers like horror and could care less for real sci-fi. Worse, on the rare occasions they do show something good, I have usually already seen it so skip it.

Oh well, at least the westerns are usually worth watching.

I have to say that I pretty much agree with your opinion on this MACJR although I do like a good horror movie but those are few and very far between. Far too many of them are just gore fests with very little if any plot and are not scary at all. I do like the old westerns and my wife recently picked up Major Dundee at Wal-Mart in one of their monthly promotional specials for $5 as one of my B-Day gifts. When I was a kid westerns dominated prime time TV.

Pirates to cowboys..... works for me

I **LOVED** the TV Westerns!  I was around in the mid to late 60s when that was just about all that was on television....  "Big Valley" "Lancer" "Laredo"  "Wagon Train" "Bonaza" "Gunsmoke" "High Chapparell"  AND the SCIFI Western "Wild Wild West."

WOW.... I was a TV western junky

Call me odd but I always kinda hoped the bad guy would win once in awhile! Like in REALITY! Except when I watched Wild Wild West, then I always wanted Jim to get his man (or woman)!

(aww... come on... you KNEW  I had to    )

Nah... I'm not much into reality.  I LIKE when the good guys win - otherwise I could just skip TV shows and read the newspaper

Ive not seen the second one but I saw most of the first pirates of the carribean.  Must have missed the first half an hour of it which was annoying because the story had already got started when I found it on tv.  I agree that Johnny Depp is great too   If the other movie is ever shown I am definately going to be watching it - unless I miss it when its on.

I just saw a trailer for Pirates III and I gotta be honest - I was not especially impressed! However, it DID look better than Shrek III that is for sure. Hopefully, they are BOTH worth the money I will be spending to see them, hopefully.
