Well, I am back! The only problem I saw flying over there was my wife got stopped at the security check point because of those darned bells! She removed her necklace (forgot she had it on) still ringing. She took some coin out of her pocket (forgot they were there), still ringing! At this time, they pulled her aside and took out the wand! I watched with growing apprehension that I was going to MISS my reunion NOT because of some terrorist, but because my WIFE was taken to jail! LOL, as it turned out, my wife was wearing these HUGE earrings that she had forgotten about! Once she took those off, no more beeping! So, we headed towards the reunion!
Of course, the reunion was GREAT fun! Everyone there looked EXACTLY like they did 20 years ago, except for a few more Bald men, and a few more pounds here and there! It was a great time! However, it was also a very tiring time! Even with A/C, the temp was still over 90 degrees INDOORS!! Not to mention it was over 100 degrees OUTSIDE AFTER dark!
Anyway, I am home now!
By the way, I can't speak to how other states are, but the guard in the two airports I was in were carrying M-16s as the rifle to protect us, however, MY trained military eye noticed immediately a lack of an actual loaded weapon! Not a single rifle had a singe clip! Of course, there could have been a single cartridge chambered, but still, these are NOT full-time soldiers, these are week-end soldiers, ONCE a month weekend soldiers! Don't get me wrong, they are doing a great thing, I just don't the point of having EMPTY weapons at the airport when IF they were needed, it would have been quite a while before any firepower could be brought to bear! Having the military at the airports is a great idea; having empty weapons is not! If they could not get the supplies to the various bases in time, fine! Hand out the smaller sidearms! Those are easier to hide that they have no bullets, a rifle like the M-16 is quickly accessible as to whether or not that rifle is loaded!
