This show is rather dark but it has been interesting so far. Anyone else watching Heroes? It is on NBC, 9:00 PM, my time, on Mondays and repeats at 7:00 PM on the SciFi Channel on Fridays.

My biggest beef with this show is not the show itself, rather that, on NBC anyway, the commercial breaks are about every five minutes. This really disrupts the flow of the show. It is distracting to the point of aggravation when a program is so severely chopped up by commercial breaks. At an average commercial break time of about 2 minutes, that makes about 26 minutes of commercials and 34 minutes of show. If Prime Time TV gets any worse, it could very well end up at 5 minute of commercials with two minutes of show every five minutes. When that happens, I will trade in my TV for a toaster. By that point, the toaster will have become more entertaining as it is making toast.

With all this commercial time, and lack of show time, it’s no wonder I rarely watch Network TV anymore.

Mac, do what I do; use TiVo (or other DVR system) to record, THEN fast forward through those darned commericials!!!

Also, i agree, the IS rather dark! Just when my wife & I think we know who the 'bad' ones are, they change our minds! For instance; is that woman with the alternate personality REALLY 'bad' or is she just a 'lioness' protecting her cub? She HAS killed already and seems ready to do so again, but does that make her 'bad'?

This is why I like this show, however, still not nderstanding 'save the cheerleader, save the world'! Not sure that she is worth saving, acts just like every cheerleader I ever knew in high school! On the otherhand, maybe that is why she needs saving, she does appear to be the only one that could survive that Syler (sp) character. Soo many unanswered questions, kinda reminding me of X-Files a bit!

Yes this is an interesting show.  I don't usually get to watch it on NBC on Monday nights so I try to catch it on Sci-Fi as it repeats early (before our normal lineup) on Friday then again on Monday, a couple of hours before the new episode on NBC.

So the cheerleader is adopted but obviously her dad knows of her extraordinary attributes.  Not only does Nicki have an evil alter ego but her estranged husband has unusual powers also.  So why wouldn’t they think their son would have special abilities too?

The guys from Japan are having a ball in Las Vegas.  But they’re the only ones who’ve seen the comic book.  And then there’s the dark paintings.  And let’s not forget about the flying politician and his brother.  This is a little reminiscent of X-Men.  All seemingly normal people suddenly being drawn to an event and place.  None of them fully understanding their role or really aware of their lives colliding.

However dark, this is entertaining.   Kudos to the networks for finally giving us something besides reality TV and lame shows that don’t only not make you think, but cause your eyes to glaze over after a few minutes.  It’s time TV went back to the caliber of entertainment it was originally intended.  Now if we could just do something about those commercials….

Hey, SOME of those commercials are funny! Think of the Capital One ads where the family ends up on a tropical island with the VERY HUNGRY TRIBESMEN?!?!?!

Of course, the Musinex & the Pepto Bismal ads could have been kept in the can!

I'm having trouble keeping up, but I do see the X-Men comparison.

I like the mantra "Save the cheerleader, save the world" even though as an ex Band Geek I despise cheerleaders.

I'm hoping that as the show progresses the various plot lines will coalesce so that I can follow the main story better.

The concept of good vs. evil is being explored in some interesting ways, so it's definitely got my interest.

Monday, January 22, 2007, at 9 PM my time (as always, make sure to check your local listings), they start showing fresh episodes of Heroes.

It is said that Christopher Eccleston (the Ninth Doctor Who) and George Takei (Sulu from the original Star Trek), will be joining the cast. I am not sure if they will become regular or semi-regular cast members, or when they will make their appearances, but I am looking forward to seeing them on the show.

It's nice to see Christopher Eccleston back on our American TVs. He is playing a rather interesting version of The Invisible Man.

George Takei made his first appearance at the end of the last episode (Monday January 29, 2007 - which may show again on SciFi this friday, February 2, 2007, but who can tell what SciFi will do or not).

Heroes has been well worth the hype even if it is a bit on the dark side. This show is done very well. They have very good writers and a talented cast. I hope this show can maintain its currently quality for a long while to come.

SFC showed 4 episodes tonight.  They said it was the last 4 episodes so I should be able to catch up...... again.  I missed Monday night's episode because I was out buying a new computer.  Guess I could have taped it (like I'm doing right now) but I was in a hurry.

So far, I have not missed an episode... which is how I noticed that last week's episode, "Company Man," dropped a character from the storyline without explanation. One week she is there, the next it is as if she never was.

Then again, there is another new character, also a brunette; could this be the same woman? How did she get dropped from one scene and then show up somewhere else then? And why do the two characters that were with her seem not to remember her being with them? Was her character being dropped out of the story part of the story or a mid-story edit?

I guess I will have to wait and see.

Anyway, although there have been a few slow episodes now and again this show is doing very well overall at keeping me interested and watching.

Well there is an invisible character you may not have seen yet  and there's a guy going around erasing memories.

Did anyone notice our last Dr. Who was on Heroes?  Not to mention Sulu.  It's like a reunion of some of our lost sci-fi members.

So, I take it that you have not been reading some of the previous posts in this thread Chevy. Yes, I noticed.

As for that woman, with one specific power, that showed up in two episodes, and then disappeared with no one remembering her... well, sure, it could have been that dude who can remove memories. I am not sure without checking credits or comparing the episodes back to back, but it seems that it was the same actress who shows up in the third episode of that arc as someone else, who we learn later, appears to have a completely different power and is clearly not on the same side as the dude who can remove memories.

Looks like a mid-story revision to me rather than something that was intended to be a mystery. Time will tell though, perhaps they will explain this later or just drop it and hope that not too many people even noticed.

I am looking forward to the return of Heroes, in spite of some mid-story revisions... but I do hope they keep that to a minimum. I hate inconsistency. Still, this show is very interesting. I also hope that they will tone down the darkness a bit. I mean, heroes should be heroes, not just unethical people with powers... and so far, I think most of these so called "heroes" would fail a test on ethics... even the police officer!

This show isn't on NBC currently.  SCF has picked it up on Fridays for the time being but the time seems to vary from week to week.  I may have to start over when the DVD's are released, I feel I've missed something or gotten out of order.  SFC will probably have another marathon before long.

Heroes finally started up on a channel I can see the other week.  Im not too sure what to make of it yet really.  There seems to be so many different characters jumping about at the moment.  Im going to keep watching anyway each week as it does look interesting so far.
