It has been, and always will be, my favorite Star Trek. There have been many interesting sci-fi shows, and a few newer versions of Trek since then, but none have equaled the originality, the feel, and the likeability of the Original Star Trek.

By the way, I would have added Yeomen Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney) to this set of pictures; I had a crush on her when I was a kid… and a girl about my own age that looked much like her.

Funny thing about Star Trek (TOS); My wife's mom is a long time friend of Barbara Babcock and she was in an episode! She was, in fact, in the first ever nationally televised INTER-RACIAL KISS!! The one where Kirk and Uhura were forced to kiss? In fact, the only reason they were allowed to kiss on TV was because they were under ALIEN MIND CONTROL!!

Oh how far we have come since then!

Of course, Barbara has been in MANY shows since, not Star Trek, but she was in a lot of different things over the years, you wold have to look her up on IMDB.COM to get the full list. let me add, however, if any of you remember the old GREEN HORNET, she was Rex's girlfriend! Rex? Whatever the GH alter-ego's name was, the guy that ran the newspaper? Him, she was on when Bruce Lee payed 'Kato'. That is how long she has been around, I also think she was Cruise's mother in 'Far and Away' but don't quote me on that.

Anyway, I keep trying to get her to go to the Star Trek convention in Vegas, but she doesn't believe me when I tell her that not only will she be recognized IMMEDIATELY (she looks exactly the same today as then), but the fans will tell her word for word every line she had as well as any lines that might have been cut!

Oh well, I can only 'lead the horse to water' etc!

Happy Birthday Star Trek!

.... just so they don't do a "roast" in celebration.

Not all of us would remember every single word of every episode.    I have other things to do than sit here and memorize scripts.

I looked up the show you are talking about. The episode’s title is, "Plato's Stepchildren" and Barbara Babcock’s character name was Philana.

About that kiss, between Kirk and Uhura, as a kid I didn't realize it was such a big deal. To me, Uhura was just another pretty woman, what man wouldn't want to kiss her?

Yes, I was rather naive about just how strongly, and stupidly, some people take skin color differences.

Thank for the episode update, MAC. And you are right, as a kid I never knew what the big deal was, lol, Uhura was MUCH more attractive than that gren skinned alien, IMO!
