On my birthday I ordered a pizza from Domino’s Pizza. Nothing new or special about me ordering a pizza from Domino’s because I have been buying one or two pizzas a month from them for the last several years, but on May 2, 2007, someone at Domino’s seems to have decided that my $2.50 tip was not good enough, so they rounded the total up to $35.00. This was easy for them to do because I purchased the pizza, kickers, and a salad with a plastic card. It seems that when you use plastic, your total purchase price can be stretched to fit whatever the person keying in the bank transaction wants it to be.

Now mind you, I realize that a $2.50 tip is not all that great, but heck, there is a delivery charged added to the cost of any delivery order… I figure that $2.50 on top of that delivery charge is more than enough of a tip for an order that totaled $31.46.

I guess someone disagreed with me.

What really stinks about this whole thing is not so much that they ripped-off $1.04 from me, it is the fact that this is not the first time there has been a transaction discrepancy with this Domino’s Pizza restaurant. The $1.04, by itself, is no big deal, but the last time there was a problem it was because they double charged my order, and that was a big deal. That time, I was using a bank account that barely had the funds to cover my order, so when Domino’s double-dipped me, it cause my account to go into the red. The price of two orders and a bank fee added up very quickly. Domino’s did reimburse me for that mistake, including the bank fee, so I more or less forgave them… but I did not forget what happened. After all, it could have been an accident but there is no way to know for sure. Anyway, at that time I was angrier at the bank, WaMu (Washington Mutual) for refused to reverse the overdraft charge for something that was not my fault – I have not done business with them since.

But this time, someone at Domino’s did not double-dip my account, whether by accident or not, but instead someone rounding up my total, which is much less likely to have been an accident.

This time, I was offered a free pizza with my next order. Basically, I told Domino’s that there would not be a next order. It seems to me that they cannot be trusted with a card number.

I guess the lesson here is to never order delivery with a card number. Always pay cash. I think I will stick with that policy when I decide who I will do business with for my next pizza.

Sorry to hear that MAC. Out here our DOMINO'S is soo 'good' that my wife has FORBADE me to EVER order from them EVER!!!!! But, she is a chef, and she knows that you have to actually COOK pizza's for them to be good, plus, we (she) once went ahead and 'finished' cooking one of their pies, and, while it turned out better than anything they had sent up to that point, it was still CRAPPY!!!! That's alright, most of our local pizza places take all the other coupons and specials (even the chain ones) so we didn't lose out much (except for gastronomical peace, I reckon). But, the tip you gave was MORE than enough, especially with the delivery charge on top! What do they think they are? So SIT down restaurant on the Louvre? (not sure I spelled that right, but we know what I mean!). Hey, take that free pizza deal, but tell them the deal was JUST a free pizza, NOT a free pizza with next purchase! They already have that as one of their normal specials so they didn't lose anything by making that offer to you!!! Then, once they deliver it, give it back to the driver and tell him it was a gift from his boss! That way, you either made his (the driver's) day, OR you kept a sabatoged pie out of your mouth!!!!! Either way, you done a good thing!!!!!!

Usually the Domino's Pizza up here makes a good pizza. Yes, there have been a few less then stellar orders delivered to my door on occasion, but most times the pizzas that I received were good.

I like Domino’s pizzas better than another brand I tried a while back. I tried it exactly once… and that was more than enough of their pizza. It was so bad that I will not even post their brand name here.

Anyway, the Domino's pizzas up here do taste good... but they really cause problems for my digestive tract... so maybe I will just not order any more pizzas from anyone.

It's a bummer getting older and having a pizza cause discomfort the day after it has been eaten.

We have so many pizza joints around here that I can't even imagine counting them all. IMHO Domino's is toward the bottom of the list (raw is not a good way to serve pizza). I personally prefer the independent places as opposed to the chains. Most started up years ago and are still going strong because they earned their reputations.

Same here Quest, the little independent places aroung here make better pizza too. The problem is that most of them don't deliver. I like Pizza Hut the best of the big chains. One thing I like about them is they still cut the pizza in triangles when a lot of places use squares now. I know its no big deal but a pizza should come in triangle pieces!

Hey Mac, don't give up your pizza, its the perfect food. It has all four food groups in one! Just go to the store and get you a box of Prilosec, or you could try Zantac first (its a little cheaper), take one a couple of hours before you indulge in a scrumptious pizza and I think you'll find you won't have any problems. It works for me.

I have tried prescription Zantac before but I sometimes get very bad gastritis attacks after taking that. It did not seem to help my ulcer all that much either.

I have not tried Prilosec yet. I may try some of the over the counter stuff here soon.

Pizza is a good treat to eat once in a while. I personally like Domino's Pizza, at least the one in my area anyway... I just do not like getting ripped-off by them!

I will have to try Pizza Hut, it has been ages since I tried one of their pizzas, and they do deliver.

A few of ours deliver. One of them makes the best chef salad. It literally weighs a few pounds. They also make the hottest pizza in town, maybe in the state.

Hey, I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks pizza and salad go together Quest. If you eat a meat-lovers pizza that's a little greasy does the salad cancel out what's bad for you because its good for you?

You might have better luck with Prilosec Mac, its a little different blend of medicine and a little stronger. It works far better for me than the Zantac did.

I ate three different types of pizza on Tuesday.... Pizza Hut, Costco, and that which was made by students in a science class. May I just say, Mylanta was my friend that night!

Well, I finely broke down and bought a pizza the other day... but it was not from Domino's.

I ordered from Pizza Hut this time. My only complaints are that my order arrived late and warm rather than hot. The pizza and wings did taste good though.

I wanted a salad with that order but it seems that my local Pizza Hut does not have salad on the menu. Oh well.

I will give Pizza Hut another try soon to see if they can do better on the delivery time and bring me a pizza that is still hot.

At least the Pizza Hut order did not smell like an ashtray (delivery drivers should not smoke in the car!) and was not smashed and cold like a pizza I received from another pizza place I ordered from in the past. I didn’t like their recipe either. And no, that was not from Domino's Pizza. That pizza disaster was from a pizza place whose name I will not repeat because their pizza was so bad. I would hate to have someone local read this and then try one of their pizzas just to see for themselves.

I never do commercial pizzas.. yuck. I like the mom pop pizza joints where you get real ingredients and a bigger pizza for your buck I hate all those others... just seems to be so much grease and nasty taste to commercial guys.
