Is it just a curse?

Rep. Kennedy to Enter Rehab After Crash
Congressman Acknowledges Addiction to Prescription Drugs

Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy said today he is checking himself into the Mayo Clinic to treat a longstanding addiction to prescription pain medications.

His statement at a Capitol Hill news conference came after a car accident early yesterday morning in which police said Kennedy had "red and watery" eyes, "slightly slurred" speech and unsteady balance.

Kennedy, 38, a six-term Democratic congressman from Rhode Island, was cited for three traffic infractions in the accident, the report said.

Rest of story here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/05/AR2006050500888.html?sub=new

Of course, you or I would be in JAIL right now!

In fact, I think I am going to change my last name to Kennedy. Just think of the possibilities. I can re-introduce previous legislation that has proven to fail and say it is a new idea. I can drown my girlfriend and not remember what happened and show up the next day after they find her body. I can have multiple car crashes and never be held accountable. If I do get caught I can claim I was under the influence of prescription drugs and again get away with it.

I can milk the public for over 40 years and claim I am in their best interest. I'll toast to that.. pass the bottle!!

I think you are right, or at least partly right, to not want to go back to what has already failed. The old democratic way has lost favor and no longer can work, and I do not like at all the republican solutions. We need something new.

I believe in the democratic way and of a multi-party system but our current system, and its leaders, have failed us. I do not blame just the republicans because there is more than enough blame for both parties. Both the democrats and the republicans are responsible for the mess the USA has become today.

It is time that old ways and old thoughts give room to new thoughts and new ways. If the democrats and the republicans cannot evolve into something better, maybe it is time for evolution to take place and a new species of politician to emerge as the dominate creature.

I just want leadership with heart and conscience to go with the confidence and professional qualities needed to run a planet.

That's not going to happen until they stop thinking of themselves first and thinking of what is good for the people last.

This man is thinking, 'If only I was a Kennedy'!

Man crashes Capitol barrier, is arrested By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - A man crashed his vehicle into a security barricade at the U.S. Capitol on Monday, ran into the building and was arrested, forcing the complex to briefly be locked down, authorities said.

Police shut down the complex as they investigated the incident, and to ensure that all people there were authorized to be there. The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m., EDT, witnesses said. The Capitol complex was reopened within the hour.

Hill staffers were briefly instructed to remain in their offices while police searched to ensure there were no other interlopers.

Construction workers and police said the man drove his SUV through a barricade at the Capitol, where a major visitors' center is under construction. His vehicle also crashed into a water fountain on the plaza in the middle of the construction area.

Witnesses said the man, wearing a blue ballcap, ran into the Capitol near the Rotunda and was pursued by police. A construction supervisor said the man was apprehended in a construction area on the third floor of the building.

In the summer of 1998, two Capitol Police officers were shot to death when a man with a history of mental illness opened fire in the building. The man was wounded and captured.

Police cordoned off the vehicle, a light-colored SUV, which sustained a damaged front fender, and were searching it.
