As far as the episode itself,  I liked it.  I had TOTALLY forgotten about ANYTHING that had happened at the end of last season - it seems like it was SOOOO long ago. It really wasn't a "cliffhanger" for me since I apparently didn't care what happened if I had forgotten it.  Anyway, it was good enough.

So, now Wier is half Replicator and Ford is half Wraith?  I hope that she doesn't suffer the same fate he did.... just kind of fade off and be forgotten.

I gotta be honest here.  I **NEVER** wanted Sam or ANY of the other Stargate characters to be on Atlantis.  The show FINALLY has a chance to get out from under the shadow of Stagate and they go and drag the shadow back over it.

You all know that I wasn't an Atlantis fan to begin with.  In the beginning they did next to no character development at all.  The only character they really bothered developing was Rodney and I feel that really was more  due to the talant of the actor than anything he was actually given to do in the script.  But the show is FINALLY coming into itself.  They had more than a few scripts that REALLY showed bad judgement by the characters (and the writers) but with Stargate gone I thought this show could really start moving.

Wier never had a chance.  When her character first appeared on Stargate, I LOVED her.  I thought she was intelleligent and forceful and not afraid to make the tough decision.  Whether it was a change in the actress or just different writers when she went to Atlantis she jurned into a wimp.  What hapened?

I'm not liking the way that this all is happening, to be honest. It is the WRITERS responsibility to make interesting characters.  They are taking the easy way out by trading in a character that they didn't bother developing for one that comes with a complete history.  I'm just not a fan of that.

I like Zalenka (and yeah, I know I most likely didn't spell that correctly)  I don't quite undersatnd why he didn't die immediately after his spacesuit got a hole in it.  They didn't even bother patching it with duct tape.   I do worry that HIS character is going to get bypassed now, though.  HE was Rodney's foil - the only one smart enough scientifically to keep up with him.  If Sam comes along will she take the place of Wier AND Zalenka?  I hope not.

Yeah, I had pretty much forgotten what last season’s final was too. In fact, a couple weeks ago I was trying to remember just what the cliffhanger for this show was and couldn’t remember for the life of me… while I could remember the Smallville cliffhanger in detail.

Sadly, I think the Stagrate Atlantis season opener is even more forgettable than last season’s closer was. I was not impressed by this episode at all… it was even worse than the Smallville season opener… which was quite bad.
